Dúró Dóra Proposes Monetary Incentive for Long-term Married Couples in Hungary
Mi Hazánk MP Suggests Regular Financial Support to Encourage Marriage
Dúró Dóra, a member of the Hungarian parliament representing the Mi Hazánk party, has proposed a financial incentive for married couples in Hungary.
Her proposal suggests that married couples should receive a payment of at least 100,000 forints every ten years on their wedding anniversaries, starting from their tenth anniversary.
The condition for receiving this benefit is that the money must be spent within Hungary.
The proposal aims to support and recognize the institution of marriage and could serve as an exemplary regulation within the European Union.
Dúró argues that in a time when personal relationships and families face numerous challenges, strengthening these institutions is imperative.
Recent data shows a notable decline in marriage rates in Hungary, with only 5,417 couples marrying in September, a 22% decrease from the previous year.
Dúró is running in a by-election in Tolna county and has requested the government to develop the legal framework for this proposal by January 31st next year.
The ruling Fidesz party might support this initiative, as they have previously collaborated with Mi Hazánk on electoral reforms.
