Chinese President Xi Jinping has instructed his military to heighten their war preparedness in light of recent large-scale military exercises around Taiwan.

During a visit to a People's Liberation Army Rocket Force brigade, Xi emphasized the need for enhanced strategic deterrents and combat capabilities, according to state broadcaster CCTV. In recent years, China has increased military pressure on Taiwan, which it considers its territory, with the latest military maneuvers involving fighter jets, drones, and warships.

The Chinese government has not ruled out using force to reunite Taiwan with the mainland, underscoring Xi's call for safeguarding China’s strategic security and core interests.

The tension between China and Taiwan has historical roots, dating back to the civil war in 1949 when nationalist forces retreated to the island after being defeated by communists.
