Buyers Show Interest in Models Like Golf, Focus, and Astra.
Last year, Hungary saw almost 106,000 imported used cars being put into circulation, indicating a significant decline compared to previous years. For instance, in 2019, the country received 156,000 used cars, based on statistics from Datahouse, a company specializing in automotive industry data.
Among the most popular brands, Volkswagen leads the list, although the number of their imported models has decreased. In the past year, 13,703 Volkswagens were imported into the country, followed by Ford with 9,496, and Opel with 9,283 units.
Perhaps even more interesting is that in 2023, only three out of the top twenty most popular imported vehicles saw an increase: the
Mercedes E-Class and C-Class, as well as the Audi A6. For the rest, imports decreased by 1-34 percent. The most popular models remain consistent with previous years: Golf, Focus, Passat, and Astra.
The majority of imported used cars ended up in Pest County, followed by the capital city and Győr-Moson-Sopron. These three regions accounted for just over a third of all used car imports.
