Uncertainty replaces secure medical care: "It's about 42,000 people
We need the on-call service"
In Pomáz, Tahitótfalu, and Kocs, patients feel they are not receiving the healthcare promised by the National Ambulance Service following the reorganization of the medical on-call system, reports Deutsche Welle.
Mergers, redirections, dissatisfied patients: the national overhaul of the general practitioner on-call system concluded this February and didn’t achieve universal acclaim. In Pest County, for example, locals say the situation has notably worsened.
The Hungarian team of Deutsche Welle filmed in Pomáz, Tahitótfalu, and Kocs, where patients report not receiving the healthcare the National Ambulance Service promised with the restructuring.
Several places organized protest actions and demonstrations, collecting signatures against the reorganization. In Tahitótfalu, the resistance was such that the recently ceased on-call service was reinstated for the summer, albeit temporarily. Meanwhile, Kocs has been unable to find a permanent doctor to hold consultations for 18 years, relying solely on substitutes.
