Model Mistaken for AI Creation Expresses Frustration
"It's extremely disheartening to be perceived as a model created by artificial intelligence.
I find it utterly absurd," lamented Ines Troccia, an Italian model and influencer. The 29-year-old has amassed a following of 1.6 million on Instagram and collaborated with renowned brands such as Philip Plein and Dolce & Gabbana. Despite her success, she is regularly accused of not being a real person but instead one of the hyper-realistic models created through artificial intelligence.
Troccia argues that AI models represent unattainable ideals impossible for flesh-and-blood humans to emulate. "These models often have super baby-like faces with breasts and facial features that don't proportionately fit their bodies," she observed. She added that she is baffled by the mix-up with virtual models since, in her opinion, they are easy to distinguish: "You can always tell when an AI model has been used because their facial expression is the same kind of sad in every photo and video."
The model is exceedingly proud of her natural appearance, having not undergone any cosmetic procedures. Her physique is so impeccable that there have been instances where her photos and videos were stolen, faces replaced with others using artificial intelligence, and then shared on social media. One such modified video garnered more views than the original version available on her own profile.
Troccia is not alone in facing this issue within the industry. "I've spoken with several colleagues and friends in the business, and they share the same concern," she stated.
Moreover, Troccia acknowledged the role of modern technology and does not deny using it for editing her photos and videos. However, she believes it is excessive to create non-existent individuals with the help of artificial intelligence.
