January's Average Gross Salary Exceeds 600,000 Forints
According to a report by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH), the average gross salary in January was 605,100 forints, an increase of 14.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
In January, the gross average salary for those employed full-time was 605,100 forints, with the net average salary, after deductions, amounting to 416,600 forints.
The KSH reported on Thursday that the gross average salary increased by 14.6 percent, the net average salary by 14.5 percent, and the real salary by 10.4 percent compared to a year earlier, alongside a 3.8 percent increase in consumer prices.
The median gross salary reached 493,700 forints, and the median net salary was 341,700 forints, representing increases of 16.9 percent and 16.0 percent, respectively, compared to January last year.
In January, the average net salary, excluding deductions, was 402,400 forints, a 14.6 percent increase compared to January 2023.
The KSH estimates that the average gross regular salary (excluding bonuses, rewards, and one-off payments) was 578,300 forints, up by 15.0 percent from the same period in the previous year. The average regular gross salary was 576,700 forints in the enterprise sector, 576,200 forints in the budget sector, and 599,400 forints in the nonprofit sector, marking increases of 14.1, 17.6, and 16.7 percent, respectively, over one year.
