Here is the Top List of Football Fines: Hundreds of Millions in Penalties Required for the Top Step of the Podium

Football players regularly earn huge amounts of money, but with great salary comes great responsibility, and infringements are severely punished.
Therefore, only a dazzling sum in fines could secure a place on the throne of football fines.

Footballers most often make headlines due to their performance on the pitch, but there are times when their names are heard off the pitch as well, which often doesn't bode well for them. Let's see which footballers had to pay the largest sums in penalties for their actions, both on and off the pitch!

6. JOHN TERRY - HUF 102 MILLION

Considered by many to be one of the best defenders in history, Terry received a then-record fine in 2011 after it was revealed he had made racist comments to Anton Ferdinand during a match against QPR. As a result of the investigation, Terry had to retire from the national team.

5. ROMELU LUKAKU - HUF 150 MILLION

The Belgian striker was far from finding his form after transferring to Chelsea from Milan for a club-record £97.5 million in 2021, and he made his dissatisfaction known in an interview in which he criticized the coach, stating he would rather return to Milan than continue in England. For this outburst, he was benched and fined HUF 150 million by his team.

4. MARIO BALOTELLI – HUF 157 MILLION

The Italian striker is better known to many for his scandals than his performances on the pitch, and not without reason: although he assisted Agüero's goal that won City their first league title, his extravagant behaviour regularly landed him on the front pages. In 2012, he missed a few training sessions preferring to go out partying at night, for which his club thanked him with a fine of HUF 157 million.

3. ARDA TURAN – HUF 162 MILLION

The Turkish midfielder, after spells in Madrid and Barcelona, sought fortune in Istanbul but found scandal instead: after an argument, he sent a Turkish pop star to the hospital, where he followed and in anger fired a gun into the floor. Apart from the monetary fine, he was also sentenced to a suspended prison term.

2. HARRY KANE AND CARLOS TEVEZ – HUF 184 MILLION

The shared second place goes to the Spurs and City footballers. The British star wanted to force a move to City in 2021 by not showing up for training – which did not make the club management happy. Tevez's action was also driven by a desire to transfer: by flying back to Argentina without permission and then disappearing for weeks, he earned a suspension of six weeks' wages.

1. SADIO MANE – HUF 204 MILLION

The Senegalese striker left Liverpool for the favours of Bayern Munich but failed to find his previous form. He took out this frustration on his teammate, Leroy Sane, after a Champions League defeat to Manchester City by slapping the German colleague in the face. For his action, he received a fine of HUF 204 million and was also dropped from the starting lineup for a few matches.
