A young couple has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a woman in Cegléd, Hungary, after they allegedly followed her from the Nyugati Railway Station.

According to a statement from the Pest County Police Headquarters, the incident occurred on March 15, when the victim boarded a train bound for Cegléd.

While on the train, the woman, displaying what appeared to be a casual demeanor, counted her salary, which she had just received, and put the money away.

Unbeknownst to her, the couple seated nearby took note of her actions.

After disembarking the train at Cegléd, the woman was unaware that the couple had quickly exited the train as well and began to follow her.

The couple caught up with the victim near an overpass at the station.

The female suspect restrained the woman from behind by grabbing her arm, while her male counterpart confronted her, brandishing a kitchen knife and threatening to stab her if she screamed.

The assailants stole 210,000 forints from the victim and subsequently smashed her phone to prevent her from calling for help.

They then fled the scene toward the city.

Local police in Cegléd launched a swift operation, deploying officers across various locations in pursuit of the suspects.

They were located a few minutes later near a shopping center parking lot, where they were spotted between trash containers.

A knife was recovered from the male suspect's coat, and bundles of cash matching the denomination reported by the victim were found in the female suspect's bra, indicating their previous acquaintance with criminal activity.

The 27-year-old male suspect, identified as K. István, had a prior conviction for extortion, while his partner, 23-year-old H. Bettina, was previously charged with theft.

Both have been taken into custody and placed under arrest on charges related to the robbery.
