Recall Issued for Contaminated Non-Carbonated Mineral Water
Szentkirályi has issued a recall for bottled water purchased from Auchan due to a contamination issue.
During a quality control process, Szentkirályi's laboratory discovered that a small amount of cleaning solution was inadvertently introduced into the 1.5-liter non-carbonated Szentkirályi water bottles during bottling. As a result, Szentkirályi Hungary is urging consumers who purchased this product from any Auchan store last Friday, March 22, specifically the 1.5-liter non-carbonated (pink cap) Szentkirályi mineral water with a bottle neck expiration date of March 21, 2025, not to consume the product and to return it to the store of purchase.
The company warned in a statement released on Tuesday that consuming the product in large quantities could pose health risks. However, the contamination should be noticeable upon opening due to an unpleasant odor and a taste that deviates from the usual Szentkirályi water quality.
A product tracking system enabled Szentkirályi to promptly recall the majority of the contaminated products from warehouses and stores. Unfortunately, a few consumers had already purchased the product from Auchan stores before it could be removed from the shelves.
Szentkirályi is requesting that customers return the product to the store where it was purchased (no receipt necessary), or contact the Szentkirályi consumer hotline at 06-80-200-329. The company will refund the price of the affected products or exchange them.
Szentkirályi apologizes for the inconvenience. The company assured that Szentkirályi products with different expiration dates or purchased from other stores are safe to consume.
The mineral water manufacturer emphasized that producing safe food products is of paramount importance to Szentkirályi Hungary, which is why it has taken steps to recall the affected product and inform consumers. The company reassured that all Szentkirályi products currently on shelves are safe for consumption.
