In a remarkable development, the US Congress has approved the latest aid package for Ukraine, which includes the provision of long-range missiles to Kyiv.
With the first shipments having arrived in Ukraine, a new chapter unfolds in the conflict that has spanned over two years.
As reported by Origo, it has been revealed how Zelensky plans to end the war. This new phase in the Russian-Ukrainian war commences as the US lawmakers voted in favor of an aid package worth approximately 22 trillion Hungarian forints for Ukraine.
For a long time, Washington hesitated to provide Ukraine with longer-range weapons due to concerns that they could be used against targets deep inside Russian territory, potentially escalating the conflict.
The high-precision tactical missile systems (ATACMS), capable of hitting targets up to 300 km away, are among the capabilities included in the package, according to Al Jazeera.
On Thursday, a spokesperson for Russia stated that the deliveries of ATACMS would not alter the outcome of the war and that Russia is prepared to declare war on NATO. The United States has authorized the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) to strike facilities in Crimea with the long-range ATACMS missiles, a high-ranking Pentagon official announced. With these missiles, the Ukrainian military can now attack occupied regions well beyond the front lines.
The aim of the United States is to "exert greater pressure on Russia" with the new long-range missiles.
