Ferencváros Engages in Last-Minute Player Transfers as Winter Transfer Window Closes

The Hungarian football club acquires two new players while loaning out two existing squad members just before the transfer window deadline.
As the winter transfer market in Hungary approaches its closing at midnight on February 14, 2025, the defending champion Ferencvárosi TC (FTC) has made significant movements in its player roster.

The club has secured the signings of two youthful talents: 18-year-old Brazilian winger Guilherme Henrique and 19-year-old Nigerian forward Olalekan Ibrahim.

Henrique, a product of the seven-time Brazilian champions Corinthians, brings versatility as he can play primarily on the left side of the attack, but has also been utilized as a central striker and on the right wing during his time with the club's U20 team.

Ibrahim, who has represented Nigeria at the U20 level, made an appearance on March 15, 2024, against Senegal, where he played for 20 minutes in a match that ended in a 3-2 defeat for Nigeria.

Tamás Hajnal, the sports director of Ferencváros, commented on the club's strategy stating, "We strive to discover talented young players in Hungary and abroad.

We conduct intensive scouting in South America and Africa, which has led to the arrivals of Guilherme and Ibrahim.

They have the potential to be significant assets for our first team in the medium and long term, though we acknowledge that such a project requires substantial developmental work."

In addition to the new signings, FTC has also seen two players leave the club on loan.

Zsombor Gruber has joined MTK Budapest on a half-year loan, where he looks to gain more playtime.

During his time at FTC, Gruber, who has been a part of various age-group national teams, made his senior debut in November 2024 during a match against Germany, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

MTK Budapest, currently sitting fifth in the OTP Bank Liga, stated that Gruber is a promising Hungarian forward whom Marco Rossi considered for national team selection.

Additionally, defender Lóránd Pászka has been loaned to Kecskemét, which presently occupies the last place in the OTP Bank Liga table.

The loan agreement will extend until the end of the current season.

Pászka, originally from Háromszék, joined FTC three years ago and has won three league titles and one MOL Hungarian Cup during his tenure.

However, he has had limited appearances this season, featuring in just three league matches and one Hungarian Cup match.

The changes at Ferencváros come as the football club seeks to bolster its squad depth while allowing younger players the opportunity to gain experience in competitive environments.
