Woman Fatally Stabbed by Ex-Husband After Court Denies Restraining Order

A horrifying incident unfolded when a woman was fatally stabbed by her ex-husband, following the court's denial of her request for a restraining order.
The suspect, a 49-year-old male, had been previously arrested four years ago for repeatedly making death threats against his ex-wife, leading to his detainment. Despite his release in February, the situation tragically escalated on a Tuesday morning when he unexpectedly visited the woman and murdered her. He later confessed to the crime, according to reports from RTL News.

The couple's son, who was living separately from his father, reported to the police that his father stabbed his mother. Upon the arrival of the emergency services, the woman had already succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The perpetrator awaited the arrival of the law enforcement at the house.

The police have initiated a request for the murderer's detainment, with a court decision expected on Thursday.

Local residents described the victim as kind-hearted, in stark contrast to the aggressive nature often attributed to her ex-husband.

The history of threats dates back to February, four years ago when the man was first arrested for threatening to kill his wife and her new partner amidst their failed marriage. On one occasion, he tied the woman to a chair with the help of their 17-year-old son in an attempt to intimidate her.

During a house search at the time, police discovered a firearm and arrested him; he was only recently released.

The victim had requested a 60-day preventive restraining order from the authorities. Although the prosecution found the request justified, it was unfortunately rejected by the Tolna County Court, which has declined to provide details on their decision. The circumstances surrounding the case are presently under investigation by the Tolna County Police Department's criminal division under the suspicion of homicide.

The tragedy underscores the importance of supporting those affected by domestic violence. Victims, or those aware of someone potentially experiencing violence or trafficking, are urged to contact the National Crisis Management and Information Telephone Service at 06-80-20-55-20 or the Victim Support Line available 24/7 at 06-80-225-225. Assistance can also be sought in person at the nearest Victim Support Center, with a list of centers available at http://vansegitseg.im.gov.hu. The NANE Association offers a help line for abused women and children, which operates free of charge every weekday except Wednesday, between 6 PM and 10 PM, at 06-80-505-101.
