On February 4, 2025, a mass shooting took place at Campus Risbergska, an adult education center in Örebro, Sweden, claiming the lives of around ten people, including the suspected shooter.

The event occurred just after 12:30 p.m. local time.

The alleged gunman, a 35-year-old man, was among those who died.

Authorities have yet to establish a motive for the attack but have stated that terrorism is not currently being considered as a possibility.

This individual was not previously known to the police.

Campus Risbergska offers educational programs for adults, including services aimed at immigrants and individuals with disabilities.

At the time of the incident, many students had already left the campus after completing a national exam, which may have helped limit the number of casualties.

Witnesses reported multiple gunshots and described chaotic scenes as students and staff sought to either evacuate or find shelter.

One teacher recounted guiding her 15 students to safety after hearing the shots.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson addressed the country, saying, "It is difficult to comprehend the full scale of what has transpired today—the darkness that now descends over Sweden tonight." King Carl XVI Gustaf also shared his condolences, stating, "My family and I are deeply saddened and dismayed upon hearing about the horrific atrocity in Örebro."

Both the Swedish Police Authority and the Swedish Security Service are conducting a joint investigation into the event.

As of now, no additional suspects have been identified, and the inquiry is still in progress.
