Scoop Up This Revamped 1974 Airstream in London

Scoop Up This Revamped 1974 Airstream in London

After a thorough makeover, the 23-foot-long Airstream Overlander is ready to embark on its next adventure.

A freshly refurbished 1974 Airstream Overlander is now up for grabs in London. While the bullet-like trailer still sports its iconic aluminum skin, the classic vehicle’s interior presents an updated aesthetic upon entry.

The 23-foot-long Airstream Overlander features a renovated, open layout, with the main living spaces located toward the front.

Crisp white walls offer a blank canvas to showcase the various upgrades, including upscale fixtures and oak parquet flooring with a shou sugi ban and white Osmo oil finish. A plush, U-shaped bench that follows the trailer’s curved edge has also been integrated into the open-plan saloon area, which caters to easy entertaining.

A hydraulic dining table in the saloon can easily be converted into a secondary double bed, which allows the trailer to comfortably accommodate up to four people.

"The considered use of interior materials strikes an artful balance between form and function," notes listing agency Aucoot. For example, the fully fitted kitchen features lightweight engineered terrazzo worktops, along with smart cooking appliances by Gagganeu and a spacious fridge with an ice box.

The kitchenette sits between the living area and bedroom. It features lightweight terrazzo worktops, custom poplar cabinetry, and a hidden, 21-gallon fridge/freezer.

At the opposite end of the living spaces, sliding doors neatly conceal the sleeping area, which features a full-size bed, two wardrobe units, and built-in shelves. Nearby, the bathroom comes with a Corian shower room equipped with a Dornbracht overhead fixture, as well as an odorless Cinderella combustion toilet.

A wide picture window invites plenty of sunshine into the rear bedroom.

Although the Airstream’s chassis and shell are fully restored, the Aucoot team adds that the trailer is not currently suitable for towing. "We can see this thoughtfully overhauled 1974 Airstream Overlander as a central feature to a large garden or outdoor space, offering a unique accommodation solution or acting as a home office," reads the listing. "It could also make an excellent holiday rental opportunity with year-round potential, thanks to the air conditioning unit and thermostat-controlled heating."

Custom woodwork continues into the bathroom, which is located behind sliding doors.

In addition to its iconic aluminum exterior, the restored trailer also features its original gear-operated windows, Zip Dee awning, and touch-control entry step.
