Israel's main labor union, Histadrut, has declared a nationwide strike after the military recovered the bodies of six hostages from the Gaza Strip.
These hostages were taken during Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel.
The bodies were found in an underground tunnel in Rafah, southern Gaza, among 251 hostages initially taken, with 97 still held captive.
In response, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum demanded urgent negotiations for the remaining captives' release.
Union leader Arnon bar David announced the strike to start Monday morning, criticizing political stagnations preventing a deal.
The deceased hostages include Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Almog Sarusi, Ori Danino, US-Israeli Hersh Goldberg-Polin, and Russian-Israeli Alexander Lobanov.
Amid accusations from both sides, PM Netanyahu has expressed regret and the ongoing conflict sees continued violence in the West Bank with recent attacks on Israeli officers and mounting casualties.
