Raging Wildfires in Los Angeles Claim Prominent Hollywood Homes

Devastating fires have swept through Los Angeles, destroying homes of several notable celebrities while resulting in multiple fatalities.
A severe wildfire continues to wreak havoc in the Los Angeles area, claiming the homes of numerous Hollywood stars and leaving at least five confirmed dead.

Among the most notable victims are Paris Hilton and Billy Crystal, whose residences were completely incinerated by the blaze, according to Sky News.

The fires, which began in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, have forced a tide of evacuations, affecting residents including actors Tom Hanks, Ben Affleck, and Reese Witherspoon.

Emmy Award-winner John Goodman, two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins—who purchased a substantial home in the area in 2021—and Golden Globe winner James Woods have also been evacuated safely.

Steve Guttenberg, famed for the 'Police Academy' film series, reported witnessing panic and chaos in the area while aiding evacuation efforts, and noted watching mothers frantically search for their children.

Guttenberg took proactive measures to assist by moving cars blocking firefighter access.

Further illustrating the widespread impact, 'Star Wars' actor Mark Hamill fled his Malibu residence, while Oscar-winning songwriter Diane Warren lost her home, which she had built over 30 years ago.

'This Is Us' star Mandy Moore also vacated her home near Altadena, escaping with her children and pets to refuge at a friend’s house.

Jamie Lee Curtis, another Oscar recipient, disclosed that although her home was spared, the surrounding area has been severely damaged.

Several other celebrities reside in the threatened region, including rapper Dr. Dre, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Adam Sandler, Adam Brody, Leighton Meester, Tyra Banks, Martin Short, Anna Faris, Milo Ventimiglia, Linda Cardellini, Mary McDonnell, and Miles Teller.

Properties belonging to Rita Wilson, Matt Damon, Steven Spielberg, Hilary Swank, and Sally Field are also at risk.

These fires are some of the most destructive in Los Angeles history, with CNN reporting significant damage across five major fire fronts.

The blazes, named according to their geographical origin, are rapidly advancing into populated communities.

As per the latest reports, the Palisades fire spreads across 15,832 hectares, the Eaton fire across 10,600, with others including the Hurst, Lydia, and Sunset blazes also causing extensive damage.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has reported a total burning area of 26,978 hectares, equivalent to 109 square kilometers.

They have identified 55 active fire points, with firefighting efforts hampered by strong winds.

The situation remains dire, with authorities and residents alike struggling against the relentless advance of the flames, which continue to expand and threaten lives and properties across the greater Los Angeles area.
