The Polish Constitutional Tribunal postponed a crucial hearing on the constitutionality of reforms designed to unblock EU funds due to an insufficient number of judges.
The reforms were requested by the President to address a dispute with the European Union over the rule of law.
However, a row over the legitimacy of the Tribunal's president has led to several sittings being postponed, making it impossible to muster the panel of judges needed for hearings to take place.
Parliament has proposed a bill to cut the number of judges required for a full court to nine.
The European Union has withheld 35.4 billion euros in
COVID-19 recovery funds and cohesion funds from the EU budget until the dispute over the judiciary is resolved.
