Man Divorces Wife After Discovering None of Their Three Children Are His
A divorce case in China has drawn widespread attention after Chen Qixian decided to divorce his wife, Yu Hua, after 16 years of marriage upon discovering that none of the three children born during their union were biologically his.
Chen married Yu, who is eight years younger than him, shortly after they met. Not long after their marriage, Yu announced she was pregnant. The news of the pregnancy shocked Chen so much that he did not consider the possibility that his wife was already pregnant when they met. Their first daughter was born while Chen was working as a truck driver, often being away from home for most of the year. A few years later, Yu gave birth to another girl, claiming both children were Chen's. However, when Yu announced in 2019 that she was pregnant again, Chen began to suspect infidelity as he calculated that he was away for work when the child would have been conceived. Confronted with this fact, Yu insisted that the third child was also Chen's. Chen eventually accepted his wife's explanation and looked forward to the birth of their third daughter.
In November 2022, however, Chen discovered that his wife had been unfaithful to him, having an affair with a man named Wu. He sought legal advice, and his suspicions of his wife's infidelity were confirmed. Chen filed for divorce and demanded a paternity test. The results were shocking: none of the three girls he had raised as his own were biologically related to him.
Heartbroken, Chen took legal action, seeking compensation from his ex-wife for the emotional trauma caused by the paternity test results.
The final verdict in this unusual divorce case was that Chen was granted custody of the two older daughters, while his ex-wife was ordered to relinquish her financial claims and to pay child support to Chen. Following the ruling, Chen stated his intention to move on and start a new life.
