On Tuesday morning, disaster management authorities reported that two rooms of a family house in Csobád were on fire.

According to local reports, the residence was originally occupied by a man who passed away on February 8 after a prolonged illness lasting over a year.

Relatives were present at the house over the weekend for the funeral and memorial service.

Among those present were a 70-year-old woman and her son, who reportedly had a heated argument.

Following this dispute, the son allegedly subjected his mother to severe physical and psychological abuse for hours, leading to her death, as described by Zsolt Jogg, spokesperson for the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Prosecutor's Office.

Subsequently, it is alleged that the man placed a burning candle at his mother's feet and ignited her clothing, causing the fire to spread throughout the building.

During these events, the man's 13-year-old son and the deceased woman's caregiver were also present at the scene.

The man then visited his father's grave before being apprehended by police shortly thereafter.

Authorities are investigating him for homicide, suspecting he committed the crime against a person limited in capacity due to age, with indications that the act may also qualify as particularly cruel.

During his interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the murder.

In his statement, the man expressed that he had a close relationship with his father, whose death caused him significant trauma and disruption in his life.

This event reportedly strained his relationships with both his partner and his mother, with whom he claimed to have had a poor relationship since childhood.

He blamed his mother for not caring for his father adequately.

Reports suggest that the man placed heavy objects on his mother, sitting on them while pressing her head against the ground and pouring chemical substances onto her.

Among the objects was a high-powered speaker, which he allegedly activated at maximum volume, ceasing only when his mother became unresponsive.
