Hungary to join IFAS as observer

Hungary is joining the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) as an observer, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Wednesday addressing a regional event in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, to prepare for the the 9th World Water Forum, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
The IFAS, an initiative of states in Central Asia to improve the social, economic and ecological situation in the Aral Sea basin, is dealing with a challenge not just for the region but for the whole world, Szijjártó said.

He noted that Hungary has technology of the highest level, as well as experience, in the area of water management, adding that many Hungarian companies have participated in setting up sewage treatment facilities in Asia and Africa.

He said Magyar Eximbank has opened a USD 30 million credit line to support partnerships between companies in Hungary and Tajikistan.
