Hungarian Second Division Footballers Can Earn More Than Three Times the Average Net Salary

Despite this, their earnings still pale in comparison to those in the top tier, NB I.
"In our season, the budget hasn’t increased, and I am certain that, in terms of budget, we are not a top team in the NB II. Currently, 2 million forints is the ceiling, but the average salary ranges between 600,000 and 1.3 million forints. These are the base salaries. If the team performs well, various bonuses are added on top, and fortunately, we have been doing well lately," said Bálint Révész, owner of Nyíregyháza Spartacus, currently leading the second division football championship, in an interview with csakfoci.hu. Révész is also at the helm of one of the country's largest transportation and logistics empires, Révész Trans International Transporting and Service Limited Liability Company, which according to publicly available corporate data, generated a net revenue of 17,918,400,000 forints in 2022.

Világgazdaság looked into how the "not top team, Nyíregyháza" players' salaries compare to the average net wages. According to data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) in January, the average gross salary for full-time employees was 605,100 forints, with the net average salary, taking into account tax benefits, being 416,600 forints.

This means that less well-paid footballers in Nyíregyháza earn 144 percent of the net average wage while those earning 1.3 million forints take home more than three times the national net average wage.

Should Nyíregyháza maintain its confident lead, players' wages are likely to increase. According to information from _444_, an average salary in the top flight is around 4.5 million forints.
