Hungarian Fuel Prices Remain Competitive Amid Regional Trends

The Hungarian government reports lower fuel prices compared to neighboring countries, attributing this to strategic efforts and ongoing cooperation with fuel retailers.
Fuel prices in Hungary are currently favorably positioned in comparison to neighboring countries, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Economy.

The ministry emphasized its proactive stance against global fuel price increases, which has contributed to maintaining lower fuel prices in Hungary compared to its neighbors.

The government is continually working with fuel traders to ensure that Hungarian citizens can refuel under more favorable conditions than those in adjacent nations.

Data from the Central Statistical Office indicates that domestic fuel prices remained advantageous in May in relation to the average prices observed in neighboring countries.

The average price of diesel fuel in Hungary was 584 forints per liter, which is 4 forints lower than the average price of 588 forints recorded in neighboring countries.

Similarly, the average price of 95-octane petrol was 584 forints per liter, 5 forints less than the neighboring average of 589 forints.

The government reiterated its commitment to providing Hungarian families and businesses with stable, predictable, and competitive fuel prices at domestic filling stations.

In terms of national economic priorities, the goals of supply security and price stability have remained paramount in May.

The Ministry of National Economy confirmed that domestic fuel prices continue to be competitive, reflecting the effectiveness of ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the government and fuel retailers.

This collaboration aims to alleviate the financial burden on Hungarian families and businesses.

The government is actively monitoring international market developments and is prepared to implement additional measures to protect households and the economy as needed.

The consistent objective remains to ensure that Hungarian citizens can access fuel under advantageous conditions compared to neighboring countries.

Fuel prices last changed on June 2, when the price of petrol decreased by 2 forints, while the price of diesel remained unchanged.

On upcoming Saturdays, average prices at fuel stations will be as follows: 95-octane petrol at 587 forints per liter and diesel at 583 forints per liter.

Meanwhile, some stations offer petrol for as low as 554 forints and diesel for approximately 548 forints.
