Hungarian Athlete Piringer László Completes Ten Marathons in Five Days

The 43-year-old runner, known as Hungary's Forrest Gump, raises funds for charity while achieving an extraordinary feat in Florida.
Piringer László, a Hungarian athlete often referred to as the country’s Forrest Gump, has completed an astonishing challenge by running ten marathons over five days in the heat of Miami Beach, Florida.

The 43-year-old runner combined this remarkable athletic feat with a charitable effort aimed at raising funds for the Voice of Children’s Foundation, an organization that supports abused children.

László, who relocated to the United States in 2005 to pursue a career in music, adopted a running lifestyle in 2018 as part of a personal transformation.

Since then, he has gained attention for his extreme endurance challenges, including crossing the United States from Los Angeles to New York in 78 days in 2021, running for 24 hours on Margaret Island in 2022, and completing 120 half marathons on a treadmill in 120 days in 2023, which earned him a Guinness World Record.

Describing his latest achievement, László stated, "I did this completely alone on purpose.

I simply walked out to the local track with my small cooler and began running in circles.

I completed ten marathons in five days, totaling 422 kilometers, which is 84 kilometers per day." He faced significant challenges during the event, including extreme temperatures of around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) and 80 percent humidity with no shade available on the running track.

Throughout the five-day endeavor, László burned approximately 35,000 calories, a striking contrast to the average person’s daily intake of around 2,000 calories.

He noted the necessary dietary adjustments, stating, "I had to eat a lot to replenish the energy I burned.

This five-day period was primarily focused on running, sleeping, and eating.

I consumed an incredible amount of pasta and pizza and won’t want to see those foods for a while."

His efforts were supported by several American corporations that provided sports drinks and energy-dense foods.

In conjunction with the physical challenge, László has managed to raise over 200,000 forints (approximately 550 euros) for the charity, with hopes of increasing the total as the donation link remains open for several months.

In addition to his charitable aspirations, László expressed a desire to inspire his young son, Ezra, who is two and a half years old.

He conveyed his goal, saying, "I am very happy and proud to have succeeded.

I hope this motivates my son and others towards a healthier, more active lifestyle, to dream big, take bold steps, and truly live." László is also preparing to release two running books aimed at children in the near future.
