Human Head Discovered in Miskolc Backyard After Dog Brings It Home

Human Head Discovered in Miskolc Backyard After Dog Brings It Home

Authorities investigate the remains, believed to be part of a missing person's case.
On March 19, 2025, a shocking discovery was made in Miskolc, Hungary, when a decaying human head was found in the backyard of a family home.

This grim find occurred after a dog brought the head from an area on the outskirts of the city to the residence of a family with young children.

Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the family initially did not realize they were looking at human remains and were reportedly horrified when they finally understood the situation.

Emergency crews were dispatched and searched the area for several hours in an attempt to locate the rest of the body; however, no additional remains were discovered.

Reports indicate that the head may have been decomposing for months prior to the discovery.

Local residents expressed their shock and concern regarding the incident.

One elderly woman stated her fear over the recent events, particularly in light of a mysterious murder that had been reported in the vicinity.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the remains.

It is suspected that the remains may belong to a man who was reported missing in January, although this has not been officially verified.

The Miskolc Police Department is conducting a general administrative procedure regarding the incident, and as of now, there is no indication of foul play.

This incident follows closely on the heels of another case in Eger, where two male bodies were recently found.

Additionally, a body of a person who went missing in January was discovered in the Börzsöny region not long ago.

The investigations into these cases are ongoing.
