Group of Seven to Increase Pressure on China Regarding Alleged Support for Russia
Concerns About Dual-Use Technologies Intensify Policy Strains
The Group of Seven (G7) intends to escalate pressure on China over suspicions of its military support for Russia, according to a draft communiqué cited by Bloomberg.
This action suggests a possible strategic adjustment amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
China has repeatedly denied supplying weapons to Moscow, emphasizing its dedication to promoting peace talks.
The G7 is particularly concerned with dual-use technologies reportedly being provided to Russia, which could bolster its military strength.
The situation is further complicated by China's recent export restrictions on civilian drones, allegedly aimed at preventing their military application, and the United States' sanctions on Chinese companies that produce drone components.
Although the G7 seeks to limit any potential military benefits for Russia, these measures risk straining diplomatic ties with China, which has dismissed the accusations as baseless.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has also suggested the possibility of sanctions, highlighting serious concerns within the EU about the reliability of intelligence reports.
Nonetheless, the absence of solid evidence has fueled skepticism, prompting calls for dialogue and diplomatic engagement amid complex international dynamics.
