Fidesz Already Eyeing Katalin Novák's Successor?

Telephone Survey on Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky Launched.
Not long after one reader reported to hvg.hu that pollsters had been calling to inquire about their opinion on KATALIN NOVÁK's pardon decision, the publication's latest ARTICLE suggests that the polling company Call Express didn't rest over the weekend either.

This time, the phone survey focused on the HUNGARIAN DEFENSE MINISTRY and KRISTÓF SZALAY-BOBROVNICZKY. The survey asked participants whether they follow the defense minister on social media, what first comes to mind when thinking of him, their opinions on him, and to rate on a scale how a defense minister should be versus their perceptions of Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky,

– reports the portal.

It could simply be a coincidence. However, given that Katalin Novák announced her resignation as head of state on Saturday afternoon, it is reasonable to suspect the ruling party is considering Szalay-Bobrovniczky as her successor.

In the current geopolitical climate, military capability could be a consideration in selecting a president, and the defense minister is also noted for his diplomatic experience points out FORBES magazine.

Szalay-Bobrovniczky left his post as Ambassador in London in 2020, and his wife, ALEXANDRA SZENTKIRÁLYI, is the government spokesperson. He was appointed as the defense minister in the fifth Orbán government in 2022.

In April 2020, through his asset management company, London Capital Zrt., he and István Garancsi jointly took over the late Andy Vajna’s casino business that generates billions of forints. Within three years, he amassed a fortune that placed him among the richest Hungarian businessmen.
