In the early hours of January 20, a devastating fire in Tiszavasvári, Hungary, resulted in the death of an elderly woman, referred to as Manyi néni by local residents.

Firefighters responded to a call at Arany János Street after reports of a fire engulfing an outbuilding and summer kitchen on the property.

Upon arrival, firefighters were confronted with challenging conditions, as the yard was densely packed with boxes and assorted debris, complicating their access to the flames.

Despite their efforts, using multiple units and water jets, the fire spread rapidly, reaching the rear of the structure.

Tragically, the woman's burned body was discovered during the firefighting efforts.

Reports indicate that Manyi néni used the summer kitchen as her living quarters while the main house remained unoccupied.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but it is suspected that the rapid spread of the flames left her little chance to escape.

According to information gathered at the scene, she attempted to flee but collapsed in the yard.

Residents of the community were in mourning, with neighbors describing the elderly woman as an irreplaceable part of their community.

Many noted that the incident might have been preventable due to the numerous items amassed in the yard, posing significant fire hazards.

This incident adds to a series of fires in the region.

In December, a man perished in a similar outbuilding fire in Dejtár, Nógrád County, while observers watched helplessly.

Additionally, fires occurred in several outbuildings and a residential home in Turócszentmárton on New Year's Day, further underscoring the fire risks posed by densely packed structures and materials.
