The incoming President announces indoor inauguration arrangements due to extreme weather conditions.
Donald J. Trump, elected as the 47th President of the United States, is set to be inaugurated on Monday in Washington, D.C. The official swearing-in ceremony will take place indoors at the Capitol building, a deviation from tradition prompted by a forecasted cold wave expected to bring dangerously low temperatures.
As per the schedule, the day's proceedings commence with a joint church service at St. John's Church in Washington.
Following this, President
Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will host a meeting with outgoing President
Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at the White House.
The two couples will then proceed together to the Capitol for the inauguration ceremony.
Donald Trump, alongside Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, is scheduled to take the oath of office at noon local time.
Upon being sworn in, Trump will deliver an inaugural address outlining his administration's priorities for the upcoming four-year term.
Initially planned as an outdoor event, the inaugural parade along Pennsylvania Avenue will now also be held indoors.
This decision was confirmed by Trump in an official statement, citing concerns over the safety of the tens of thousands of law enforcement personnel and spectators expected to attend amid Arctic conditions.
The National Weather Service has projected that the temperature in Washington on inauguration day could peak at minus 5 degrees Celsius, with the wind chill making it feel closer to minus 15 degrees.
For those attending the events, a live broadcast of the ceremony will be available at the Capital One Arena, a venue in downtown Washington.
The sports arena will also host the inaugural parade and subsequently an address by President Trump.
Upon assuming office, Trump will begin his official duties, including signing his first executive orders.
The new administration will also host three inaugural balls on Monday evening, during which President Trump will make further remarks.
The inaugural celebrations will conclude on Tuesday morning with a national prayer service held at the Washington National Cathedral.
The series of official events related to the presidential inauguration began on Saturday.
On Sunday, the schedule included a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a political rally, titled 'Make America Great Again,' held by Trump at the Capital One Arena on the eve of his inauguration.
