Cash Shower at Deák Square: Sad Consequences of the Mass Event

The mess left behind by participants of the Saturday's staged commotion by Mobilfox, a Hungarian company distributing phone cases, was showcased by Budapest's chief city architect.
Those roaming around Deák Square over the weekend witnessed the practical realization of a new level of creative advertising: THE "INTERNAL CONFLICT" DISGUISED AS A MONEY GIVEAWAY BY MOBILFOX WAS ACTUALLY A STAGED RIOT.

25% STAKE

As previously reported, Saturday afternoon saw a RAIN OF MONEY on those at Deák Square. Roland Szépréthy, an influencer for Mobilfox, scattered two million forints from the rooftop of the company's office. This act was preceded by allegations from the company's founder and leader, Kevin Diller, accusing the content creator of "stealing" the company's TikTok account, followed by the young man's dismissal.

Szépréthy publicized the "conflict," demanding either a 25 percent ownership stake or what he considers its equivalent, one hundred million forints from the company. If his demands were met, he would scatter two million forints. It appears this has indeed happened, as the money shower was real.

According to a report by Forbes, this was made possible because ROLAND SZÉPRÉTHY SUCCESSFULLY NEGOTIATED WITH MOBILFOX, securing a 25 percent stake in the company.

FROM A BED LINEN STORAGE BOX TO THE WORLD MARKET

Kevin Diller started Mobilfox at the age of fifteen from his grandmother's bed linen storage box, and TODAY, THEIR UNBREAKABLE PHONE CASES ARE BEING THROWN AROUND IN TWELVE COUNTRIES - Forbes briefly introduces the company that operates with grand marketing, audacious ideas, and a leadership mostly composed of people in their twenties. For quality leaps, shortening the supply chain, and greater control over stock, Diller and his team have started manufacturing in Kaposvár instead of China.

Mobilfox's TikTok team is led by Roland Szépréthy. The expectation is for twenty videos to be produced monthly across the six most important markets, adding up to one hundred and twenty videos.

MONEY SHOWER AND FLOWER BED TRAMPLING IN DOWNTOWN

At the Saturday's money giveaway in Budapest - which also included the distribution of gift vouchers and Crocs sandals - ABOUT 7000 PEOPLE SHOWED UP for the two thousand pieces of one thousand forint notes. The company's security guards had to keep the crowd, scrambling for the banknotes, in check.

The participants' desperation also led to a casualty,

one of Deák Square's freshly planted flower beds fell victim to the event.

"Unfortunately, the weekend heatwave got to some people's heads, and a freshly planted flower bed became the victim of the splendidly executed 'influencer guerilla marketing'. A great help to urban greening, thank you," wrote Sándor Bardóczi, Budapest's chief city architect, on his Facebook page.

Bardóczi suggested, "if the marketers behind the cash shower idea happen to reflect a bit later and wish to somehow compensate for this destruction, the Green Budapest Foundation established by the city is ready to accept donations, which will be specifically aimed at repairing the damages."

Saturday afternoon also saw another "mass event" in downtown Pest. A crowd gathered in front of the Balázs Kicks store on Károly Boulevard for a new, limited, 18,000-forint t-shirt was so large that at one point, traffic had to be blocked off near Deák Square.
