Botka László Criticizes President Novák Katalin and Várkonyi Andrea's Choices, Reflects on the Challenges for Fathers of Daughters in Szeged
Szeged Mayor László Botka commented on Facebook regarding the resignation of President Novák Katalin, assessing the situation as a father from Szeged who is raising daughters.
“As a father with three intelligent and beautiful daughters taught to achieve anything through knowledge, hard work, and performance, the challenges have not been made easier since the scion of a multi-generational, intellectual family from Szeged became the celebrity of the National System of Cooperation (NER). Ten years ago, Kati was still a secretary, a chief of staff with nothing hinting at her becoming the head of state for Hungary. It was Orbán who chose and appointed her due to an egregious error,” Botka wrote.
Botka's reference to Novák Katalin concerns her role from 2012, where she served as the chief of staff to the Minister Zoltán Balog at the Ministry for Human Capacities, and in 2014, became Secretary of State for Family and Youth Affairs in the same ministry.
The mayor, however, didn't limit his comments to Novák: “And Várkonyi Andrea, who supposedly believed in intellectualism, went on to marry Lőrinc Mészáros!”
Botka concluded his remarks with a pointed summary: “Kati, Andi, you have not made things easier for Szeged fathers with daughters!”
This development has even stirred significant controversy within the ruling party's own ranks, following the decision by President Novák Katalin to grant pardon to one of the individuals involved in the pedophile incident at the Bicskei orphanage, Mr. K. Endre. The unfolding events of the scandal can be followed in our article series.
