Homes were sold for an average of HUF 31 million in Hungary in 2021, up almost 10% from a year earlier, Duna House said on Friday, based on its own data., according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Homes in prefabricated buildings were sold for an average of HUF 410,000 per sqm, non-prefab homes for HUF 570,000 per sqm, and detached homes for HUF 310,000 per sqm. The average price of newly built homes was close to HUF 650,000 per sqm.
The most expensive residential property was a 404 sqm detached home in the capital's District I, sold for HUF 700 million. The cheapest homes that changed hands were mud-brick houses in need of renovation, with a value between HUF 1 mln and HUF 3 mln.
The new owners paid more than HUF 100 mln for 2% of the properties, while 36% changed hands for less than HUF 20m. The average per sqm price exceeded HUF 1 mln in almost 3% of the transactions nationwide, but this ratio was more than 10% in Budapest, Duna House said.
