Assault and Robbery Incident at Nyugati Railway Station

A mother and daughter were targeted in a robbery on an Intercity train in Budapest
On Sunday, an assault and robbery took place on an Intercity train at Nyugati Railway Station in Budapest, involving a mother and her daughter.

According to a statement from the Rapid Response Police, a 17-year-old girl sought assistance from officers stationed on the platform, reporting a confrontation with an unidentified assailant.

The girl informed the police that the man entered their compartment without warning, physically restraining her against the seat while attempting to wrestle her mobile phone from her grip.

A struggle ensued as she refused to relinquish her device, allowing her a moment to break free from the attacker’s hold and escape the train.

While the girl rushed to inform the patrolling officers, the assailant turned his attention to her mother.

He snatched her headphones and backpack from the seat and attempted to flee.

However, the mother intervened in an effort to recover her belongings, succeeding only in reclaiming the headphones; the bag remained with the assailant.

As the robber exited the train, he encountered the police, who had responded quickly to the emergency call and approached the train.

Officers successfully retrieved the stolen backpack and apprehended the suspect, who displayed signs of intoxication.

The individual was subsequently handcuffed and taken into custody.

Despite his arrest, he reportedly denied committing the robbery and was placed in criminal detention for further investigation.
