Our work is one of the defining elements of our lives, from choosing a career to managing the balance between work and personal life and all the way to retirement, we are faced with countless decisions.
Throughout the years we spend working, we encounter numerous crises and changes: childbirth, layoffs, unemployment, burnout, work addiction, or even becoming an entrepreneur poses a lot of dilemmas. Renáta Szabó, a counseling psychologist and career advisor, uses case studies, useful tips, and self-knowledge exercises to provide support in achieving the best fit between our personality, needs, and career path in every stage of life. Several parts of her publication, *Career and Self-Knowledge*, managed by HVG Books, will be shared.
I'll start with a confession: I am also a career starter. When I began writing the book and as days went by, I kept procrastinating, not writing a single sentence. Thoughts were swirling in my head: "What if it turns out that I am not cut out for writing?" "I can't do it, I have no idea how to write well!" The more time I spent doubting, the more I felt incompetent. I even experienced physical symptoms: my chest felt tight, my stomach cramped, and my heartbeat accelerated. Writing a book has been the oldest dream of my life, yet not only feelings of joy and pride were swirling within me but anxiety too.
