Russia's military targets urban areas with increased missile and drone strikes, causing civilian casualties.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported a significant escalation in Russian military offensives, which are reportedly increasingly targeting civilian populations in urban and rural areas.
In a
Facebook post on Sunday, Zelensky disclosed that over 1,460 guided bombs, nearly 670 strike drones, and more than 30 different types of missiles were fired at Ukraine by Russian forces over the preceding week.
Notably, during the previous night alone, more than two dozen missiles were launched.
Among the most alarming incidents was a ballistic missile strike on the capital, Kyiv, on Saturday evening, which was accompanied by attacks on various regions including Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Cherkasy.
Reports indicate that one person was killed and three others injured in Kyiv due to these strikes.
Zelensky emphasized that the situation underlines the insufficiency of international pressure on Russia, claiming that Moscow will continue and intensify its acts of terror as long as the world allows it.
He referenced recent attacks on his hometown of Kryvyi Rih, highlighting the targeting of civilians, including children playing in playgrounds.
President Zelensky stated, "Vladimir Putin's responses to every international diplomatic effort are these attacks, despite the destruction being visible to America, Europe, and the whole world.
We must concentrate all our efforts on security and creating peace."
In contrast, the Russian state news agency TASS reported on Sunday morning, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense, that Ukraine had conducted strikes on seven Russian energy facilities within a 24-hour period.
Amid the continuing violence, a video has surfaced showing the aftermath of an airstrike on a playground in Kryvyi Rih, where nine children were reported killed in a previous attack.
Reports also indicate that 14 individuals have died in devastating strikes on Kryvyi Rih, with six children among the casualties.
Additionally, four people were killed in airstrikes attributed to Russian drones in Kharkiv.
