Ukrainian President Zelenskyy confirms acceptance of a ceasefire proposal following negotiations in Saudi Arabia.
On March 11, 2025, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine has agreed to a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire during recent diplomatic talks held in Saudi Arabia.
Zelenskyy remarked on Telegram that the proposal came from the American delegation and focused on three main points: an end to aerial attacks involving missiles, bombs, and long-range drones; a halt to naval operations in the Black Sea; and concrete measures to build trust in the ongoing diplomatic efforts, particularly regarding the release of prisoners.
Zelenskyy expressed appreciation for the American side's understanding of Ukraine's arguments, noting their acceptance of the suggestions presented.
He stated, "During our discussions, there was a proposal from the American side to take immediate action towards establishing a full ceasefire for 30 days across the entire front line, not only concerning missiles, drones, and bombs but also in the Black Sea region.
Ukraine accepts this proposal, views it positively, and is prepared to take such a step."
In the United States, President
Donald Trump responded to the developments, emphasizing that the responsibility now lies with Russia.
Trump stated, "The ball is in Russia's court now," and expressed hope that President Vladimir Putin would agree to the terms outlined.
Trump indicated that he intends to join officials traveling to Russia and plans to reach out to Putin later this week, asserting, "I will speak with Vladimir Putin.
It takes two to tango, as they say."
The discussions in Saudi Arabia mark a significant moment in the ongoing conflict, with potential implications for future diplomatic relations and military engagements between the parties involved.
