Spotify to Offer Improved Sound Quality: The Long-Awaited Change May Finally Happen
After years of anticipation, Spotify may finally introduce a mode offering lossless music streaming, discovered by a Reddit user named Hypixely in the application's Android version code.
The Swedish music streaming giant announced a lossless option named "Spotify HiFi" back in 2021, nearly three years ago, which remained a promise. Although there was speculation about this feature being part of a "super premium" package, it never materialized. Competitors, including Apple, have since moved ahead by incorporating studio-quality music listening into their Music service at no extra cost for subscribers.
It now appears that lossless music streaming is on the horizon for Spotify, as code analysis clearly hints at its arrival, revealing support for 24-bit, 44.1 kHz FLAC files, according to The Verge.
However, the downside is that this feature might not be included in the standard subscription. Instead of introducing a new package, Spotify plans to offer it as an add-on, though the price for this additional service is currently unknown.
While the launch date remains uncertain, this is the most direct indication yet that the high-quality music feature for Spotify is around the corner, promising an unparalleled listening experience for its users.
