Royal Caribbean's New Cruise Ship 'Star of the Seas' Set to Launch in August

The luxurious cruise ship will offer Caribbean voyages featuring unique entertainment and dining experiences.
Royal Caribbean is set to launch its new cruise ship, the 'Star of the Seas', from Port Canaveral, Florida, in August 2023. The ship will operate weekly Caribbean itineraries, featuring a range of entertainment and dining options for passengers.

Onboard, guests can experience five large-scale productions, including the Broadway hit 'Back to the Future: The Musical', as well as various water and ice theater shows, family performances, and live music programs.

The 'Star of the Seas' aims to elevate the brand’s commitment to offering luxurious cruising experiences, transforming ships into immersive environments rather than merely modes of transportation.

Highlighting this ambition, the ship will showcase five different themed performances that explore the realms of water, ice, air, and classic theater, catering to audiences of all ages.

One of the main attractions will be 'Back to the Future: The Musical', making its debut on a cruise ship following a successful run on Broadway.

This musical adapts the beloved film into a lively rock and roll adventure, featuring live music, dynamic choreography, and advanced technical elements characteristic of Royal Caribbean productions.

Another highlight is the AquaTheater’s new show, 'Torque', which promises a captivating visual experience with synchronized swimmers, slackline artists, and aerial acrobats.

In the ice theater, audiences will enjoy 'SOL', a visually stunning performance showcasing a journey of the sun, with breathtaking choreography, unique lighting design, and the largest ice show team in Royal Caribbean's history.

The family-oriented production 'Create', debuting in the Royal Theater, tells the story of a curious robot named KRE-8, who explores the arts—including dance, music, and painting—in search of self-discovery.

This production is expected to enchant both children and adults alike.

In terms of dining, the 'Star of the Seas' features over 40 dining venues, ranging from fast casual to fine dining experiences.

The Lincoln Park Supper Club, for example, draws inspiration from 1930s Chicago, offering live jazz, craft cocktails, and classic American fare in a stylish multi-course dinner setting.

New culinary options introduced on the ship include the AquaDome Market, which will feature three new food stands, specializing in smoked meats, Southeast Asian dishes such as Pad Thai and Beef Panang, as well as Latin American delights like empanadas and arepas.

The family-friendly Surfside Eatery offers convenient dining options for guests looking for quick yet delicious meals between activities.

For those who wish to sample cuisine from around the globe, the Windjammer will host a vast international buffet featuring over 12 different cuisines daily.

As evening approaches, the ship's vibrant nightlife comes to life with more than twenty bars and clubs.

Highlights include the Dueling Pianos for live musical competition, New Orleans-inspired Lou's, and the champagne bar Bubbles located in the Central Park area.

For comedy enthusiasts, stand-up performances will take place at The Attic, while Casino Royale offers gaming opportunities for casino fans.

The 'Star of the Seas' will set sail for seven-night Caribbean voyages in both eastern and western directions.

Itineraries will include a visit to Royal Caribbean's exclusive destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay, located in the Bahamas, featuring a private beach area for adults, a water park, and live entertainment.

In December 2025, the offering will expand with the addition of the Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island, Nassau, which will provide family-friendly zones alongside relaxing and party areas.
