The National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) has not identified any privacy law infringements with the distribution of government newsletters, stating that anyone can easily unsubscribe through the Data Protection Officer of the Prime Minister's Office, ensuring the individuals' rights to informational self-determination and protection of their personal data, as well as their privacy, have not been violated during the data processing.
This was clarified by Attila Péterfalvi, President of NAIH, in response to whether the government's
coronavirus newsletters had breached data protection law. His statement was made public by the DK (Democratic Coalition party).
As previously reported, questions about the use of email addresses collected through Vakcinainfo (
Vaccine Info) were directed to the Chief Prosecutor by Ágnes Vadai. The politician from the DK sought to learn from Péter Polt whether the Orbán government legally uses addresses provided during earlier registrations for the spread of its propaganda.
In his response, Péter Polt stated that he has forwarded Vadai Ágnes' question to the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH), which is the competent authority to review the enforcement of the right to data protection.
