Huawei Plans Strong Response to Apple with Impending Release

Huawei, which already spiced up the market competition for Apple in China last year, is gearing up for another major move.
Their 5G Mate 60 Pro model outperformed the iPhone 15 Pro, and now all eyes are on Huawei as they prepare to launch their iPhone 16 adversary, with a big reveal expected in September. The burning question remains whether the Chinese giant can replicate its domestic sales success internationally.

For most companies, being overshadowed by a local smartphone in a small market wouldn't be cause for alarm. However, for Apple, the stakes are much higher in China one of its most crucial markets. Last year, iPhone 15 sales were lower than anticipated, partly due to Huawei's Mate 60 Pro release, and the trend looks set to continue, if not intensify, this year.

According to the latest news, the timing of Huawei's next launch isn't a coincidence. Allegedly, the Huawei Mate 70 series is scheduled for a September launch, coinciding with a month traditionally dominated by Apple releases. It is highly likely the iPhone 16 family will debut in the same timeframe, setting the stage for a clash between two iconic premium smartphone families in China.

While the Chinese tech titan is currently occupied with the development of its new P-series and the foldable Pocket S2, speculation abounds about the upcoming Mate smartphones' key specifications and release schedule. It's rumored on Weibo that the company is testing new screen technologies aimed at enhancing the user's visual experience, which could feature in the upcoming P or Mate devices. The Huawei Mate 70 series is purported to feature a quad-curved 2K display, a uniform design, and sophisticated display attributes, signifying notable improvements in the new Mate lineup's visual segment. The model range is expected to offer various screen sizes, mirroring the selection typically available with iPhone models.

Tipsters suggest that the Huawei Mate 70 models will likely include hybrid camera systems with a new, one-inch, large aperture primary camera to boost light processing capabilities. There's also buzz that Huawei plans to increase production volumes for the alleged Mate 70 family, including the high-end RS Ultimate model.

The Huawei Mate 70 series is anticipated to introduce 5.5G (5G-Advanced) technology. Furthermore, reports suggest that this year's Mate family could feature brand new Kirin chips, selected for their robust performance capabilities. These features are expected to have a significant impact on the company's smartphone market revenue, as _Huawei Central_ surmises. The firm's Harmony operating system is also expected to include integrated artificial intelligence features.

Huawei has reported growth in the Chinese market over the past few quarters. Counterpoint Research revealed that following the release of the Huawei Mate 60 and iPhone 15 families, Huawei's sales soared by 83%, while Apple's increased by 11%. Another Counterpoint Research report showed a 41% increase in Huawei shipments, following the launch of the Mate 60 models supported by the Kirin 9000s SoC, compared to the same period last year, in the third quarter of 2023.
