EU proposes another EUR 147 mln in SURE credit for Hungary

The European Commission on Tuesday said it proposed an additional EUR 147 million of financial assistance to Hungary under the SURE program to mitigate unemployment risks related to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
After the Council approves the EC's proposal, the financial assistance will be provided in the form of preferential loans to help Hungary cover the costs of a new self-employed income support scheme and an extension of tax reliefs provided to companies to keep people employed, introduced in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hungary got EUR 200 mln in SURE financing in December 2020 and an additional EUR 304 mln in February 2021. The latest disbursal will bring Hungary's total SURE financing to EUR 651 mln.
