Energy leaders to discuss future of gas at 3. Budapest LNG Summit

A global energy crunch sent natural gas prices soaring and hitting record highs in the past month. What are the factors that are fueling the price surge?
What can expect in the long run and what are the main lessons to take away? Major stakeholders of the gas and LNG industry will come together on December 6 at the Budapest LNG Summit to review how the sector has coped so far with the challenges and adjusted to the "new normal”.

As an established regional conference, the Budapest LNG Summit is ideally placed to take a prominent role in connecting policymakers and the business ecosystem from Central and Eastern Europe and beyond by providing a platform to discuss the driving trends of the gas industry and to identify the opportunities and challenges ahead of us.

The Budapest LNG Summit will be opened by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó followed by and impressive line-up of speakers including Yury Sentyurin, Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), whose members together control over 71% of the world's proven gas reserves and over 50% of the pipeline and LNG exports across the globe.

Torben Brabo, President of Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) will speak about the future role of the gas infrastructure as a new innovative energy system’s backbone, allowing EU citizens and industries to benefit from a secure, cost-effective and sustainable energy supply.

The perception of energy security in Central and Eastern Europe has changed significantly as the regional market opened up to global LNG trade. At the Budapest LNG Summit major stakeholders representing the three terminals in CEE - Hrvoje Krhen, managing director of LNG Croatia, Arunas Molis, CEO of Klaipedia LNG and Sławomir Sieradzki, director of the Gas Market Development Division at GAZ-SYSTEM - will share their insights on the future of LNG business in the region.

As the gas industry undergoes transformative changes, all market participants have to adjust their business strategies to safeguard and stabilize their operations in the long run in light of the 2050 climate objectives. The Budapest LNG Summit will bring together stakeholders from the entire value chain including high-level representatives of MET Group, Shell, ExxonMobil, Gazprom, SOCAR, Dentons, CEEGEX, FGSZ, GTSOU and Eustream.

The Budapest LNG Summit will be held live and in-person in Hotel Marriott Budapest with a full-day schedule and a truly international scope to once again bring together the energy community of the CEE region.
