China's Commerce Minister, Wang Wentao, and European Commission's Trade Commissioner, Valdis Dombrovskis, will meet on Thursday amid escalating trade tensions.
The talks follow Wang's meeting with Roberto Vavassori in Turin to discuss the EU's anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles (EVs).
These discussions come as the European Commission proposes tariffs up to 35.3% on Chinese EV imports, citing unfair subsidies.
In response, China has intensified probes into European pork and brandy imports.
Both sides have shown a willingness to negotiate, with recent tariff reductions on Chinese EVs, including a cut for
Tesla to 7.8%.
The proposed EU tariffs need approval from 15 of the 27 member states by 31 October.
China has expressed its willingness to work with the EU to address the issues and comply with WTO rules.
