In a hasty move at the end of December, seven public health nurse districts were relocated six kilometers away to the opposite end of the city of Érd following the centralization of these services.
Among hundreds of properties in Érd, a location was found for the public health nursing service catering to expectant mothers and families with small children in Parkváros an opposition electoral district. The service now shares a building with a civil association led by Fidesz mayoral candidate Kardosné Gyurkó Katalin.
As previously reported, the rapid relocation of the seven nurse districts took place at the end of December, post-centralization. As a result, during the winter and later in the height of summer, pregnant women and mothers without cars will have to walk or take the bus a total of 12 kilometers to reach the service.
The previous building's private owner had offered to continue housing the service. They even proposed to renovate the building, agreeing to the rent suggested by Szent Imre University Teaching Hospital of South Buda, which has taken over the service. The opposition mayor of Érd, Csőzik László, requested a reconsideration of the decision in a letter to hospital director Bedros J. Róbert, but received no response.
The National Hospital Directorate-General (OKFŐ) and the hospital decided to proceed with the relocation, claiming the new rental space—adjacent to the Érd outpatient clinic, where mothers bring their children for hip screenings (a one-time event), offers cheaper and more cultured conditions. It was only later revealed that the new headquarters for the public health nursing service is located in the same building as the HunGame Esport Association, which moved from Budapest to Érd last September, changing its name, activities, president, and headquarters.
The now re-registered ÉRteD Family-Friendly Association in Érd aims to transform the city into a genuine, self-aware community. In December 2023, they received nine million forints in funding from the City Civil Fund. The ÉRteD Association also operates the Érd and Regional Civil Office, which opened on the last day of January this year. At the opening, Vince Szalay-Bobrovniczky, deputy secretary of state responsible for civil and societal relations at the Prime Minister's Office and brother of the potential presidential candidate and Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, highlighted the "triple civil quality" of Kardosné Gyurkó Katalin.
Kardosné, who received her latest appointment as an active Reformed Christian from the minister Zoltán Balog, had previously been awarded by Balog in 2018 for her community work, with then-Family and Youth Affairs Secretary of State, Katalin Novák, by her side. This interconnectivity was further highlighted when Kardosné presented the NOE (National Association of Large Families) award to Novák Katalin that same year.
Kardosné Gyurkó Katalin, as president of NOE, has appeared at events alongside prominent figures from the ruling Fidesz party. The embeddedness within the government is also evidenced by KDNP parliamentary representative András Aradszki's attendance at the opening of the Érd civil office. The public health nurses were relocated beside the civil office supported by Fidesz. In the new building, the ÉRteD Association advertises its premises, sharing the third floor with the nurse service and hosting single-parent clubs, local cultural clubs, and activities like "spinal exercise, lullaby sessions, and butterfly dance" in a "civil community space."
However, Kardosné Gyurkó Katalin's mayoral campaign nearly failed before it began. As president of NOE, she courted controversy on
Facebook amidst a scandal by stating, "I reject all forms of pedophilia. We respect the President's decision to grant clemency." She later deleted this post, citing potential misunderstanding, but maintained her stance in response to RTL's inquiry.
Kardosné Gyurkó Katalin Garners Overwhelming Support as NOE President
Kardosné Gyurkó Katalin, the president of the National Association of Large Families (NOE), has officially become a mayoral candidate. The local Fidesz announced last weekend that its membership overwhelmingly endorsed Kardosné's candidacy on the executive board's recommendation. The party emphasized her proven aptitude as a non-partisan but effective leader within civic organizations.
Kardosné emerged as the beneficiary of internal conflicts within the local Fidesz faction, which opened the way for her "external nomination" by the governing party. As a prominent NOE figure well-connected to Katalin Novák, Kardosné had denied receiving a mayoral candidacy invitation in October, which she has since secured.
