Zoltán Herczeg Responds to Prosecutor's Office Seeking 2 and a Half Years Prison Sentence for Him
Fashion designer Zoltán Herczeg reacted to the Budapest 4th and 15th District Prosecutor's Office requesting a prison sentence for him due to drug possession.
Herczeg revealed on his social media the duration of the sentence the prosecution is seeking: 2 years and 8 months of actual imprisonment for drug possession, in addition to proposing a 3-year ban from public affairs. Furthermore, the prosecution has also initiated that besides the prison term, Herczeg should pay a 3 million HUF (approximately 8,500 USD) expert fee.
“I thought I was relatively good at handling shocks, especially since it's been a year since I was released from prison. Reading this proposal still struck me hard. I would be lying if I said it didn't hit me hard,” Herczeg stated in an interview with RTL News, indicating that those who care for him do not understand why he would be punished so severely.
“They also don’t understand how there can be such a strict indictment for possession. They obviously support me, stand by me, and together we hope the court will judge this matter more leniently,” he added.
Despite this, Herczeg mentioned he tries to lead a normal life: “I design fashion, renovate an apartment, spend time with my friends, my partner, my family. I live my life and look towards the light.”
The fashion designer hopes that since he repents his actions and has admitted to the accusations against him, he won't have to go to prison.
As it is known, marijuana and cocaine were found at Herczeg's place during a raid a year and a half ago, after which he spent six months in custody and four months under house arrest. The designer admitted to using drugs with his friends but denied selling them.
