Two Ukrainian Suspects Identified as Spies by Hungarian Authorities

Two Ukrainian Suspects Identified as Spies by Hungarian Authorities

Kocsis Máté announces the identification of Tseber Roland and Holló István as Ukrainian agents involved in espionage activities.
Hungarian authorities have identified two individuals, Tseber Roland and Holló István, as Ukrainian spies, according to Kocsis Máté, the leader of the Fidesz parliamentary group, following a session of the National Security Committee of the Hungarian Parliament.

Tseber has been recognized by the Ukrainian intelligence service as an illegal officer, while Holló is being investigated by the National Investigation Bureau on suspicion of espionage.

Kocsis stated that Tseber has been actively establishing connections with domestic opposition members for some time and has met with several prominent politicians and officials.

Tseber was previously a dual citizen of Ukraine and Hungary but renounced his Hungarian citizenship in 2017. Kocsis characterized Tseber's political career in Ukraine as significant, noting that he served as a representative on the Transcarpathian Regional Council.

Hungarian national security services have reportedly been monitoring Tseber for several years.

Additionally, Tseber's name has circulated in government media recently in connection with Péter Magyar, who allegedly facilitated a visit by the president of the Tisza party to Ukraine.

Magyar asserted that the trip was independently organized by their team, intended to deliver donations to a children’s hospital in Ukraine that was bombed by Russian forces.

He acknowledged a meeting with Tseber, which echoed past interactions involving Levente Magyar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, who also met with Tseber, as evidenced by a photograph.

Regarding this encounter, Kocsis noted that Tseber requested a meeting with Péter Szijjártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, through a former opposition representative, but Szijjártó sent Magyar in his place.

Following this incident, Hungarian counterintelligence informed the government about Tseber’s background, preventing future meetings.

Kocsis further revealed that Tseber also organized a meeting involving high-ranking former military leaders and entities concerning arms manufacturing and foreign investors.

As a result of these activities, Tseber was banned from entering Hungary last autumn.

In response to these disclosures, Péter Magyar referenced potential ramifications, stating, "Hands off Ruszin-Szendi Romulusz, hands off the officers.

We are very peaceful, but we are very firm.

There is a level beyond which we will not retreat.

And if actions are taken that might be planned, we will be present there." Kocsis also linked the second identified suspect, Holló István, to a former defense official.

Holló, an Ukrainian citizen, has been under the surveillance of Hungarian counterintelligence for an extended period, Kocsis reported.

During his activities in Hungary, he collaborated with Ukrainian military intelligence and allegedly engaged in active espionage related to the Hungarian army and energy system.

He has been associated with numerous individuals tied to the Ukrainian security services and the domestic military and energy sectors.

His activities reportedly included direct communication with a former high-ranking defense leader regarding Hungary’s defense industry and military stockpiles, closely linked to Ukraine’s weapon and ammunition demands.

Kocsis emphasized that Holló’s network includes several active players in Hungarian political life.

Holló was arrested on May 9, and the National Investigation Bureau is conducting proceedings against him on suspicion of espionage.
