Schadl Couple Withdraws Substantial Profits Amid Corruption Charges

Despite ongoing legal proceedings, the Schadl couple extracted a significant sum from their company, raising questions about their financial activities.
After a two-week delay, the execution office of György Schadl and his wife Helga Schadl-Baranyai, based in Budaörs and Gödöllő, has released its financial report.

Both individuals face allegations of corruption and other criminal activities, with Schadl himself accused of serious offenses and his wife charged with money laundering.

The couple reportedly acquired a total profit of 140 million Hungarian forints, from which they withdrew a substantial dividend amounting to over 100 million forints.

The withdrawn funds will be shared with their permanent deputies, each receiving a 10% stake, as the couple included them as co-owners.

Currently, both execution officers are unable to carry out their duties due to their involvement in the proceedings; however, they have not been removed from the official register of executors.

Schadl, who is currently under house arrest in a luxury holiday home near Lake Balaton, has seen a decrease in both revenue and profit for his firm in the past year, with revenues falling below 300 million forints and profit dropping to 46 million forints.

Despite this downturn, the company’s retained earnings increased, as only a portion of the previous profits were distributed as dividends.

Some of the profits from last year appear to have been retained as reserves, though specific public information is lacking; an increase in equity of over 30 million forints suggests a significant amount may remain within the company.

Helga Schadl-Baranyai reported a profit of 94 million forints last year, with her revenue also declining to below 340 million forints.

The owners are entitled to withdraw a pre-determined sum based on last year’s dividend discussions, though this figure has not been made public.

In total, they have reportedly withdrawn nearly 300 million forints from their businesses since 2021.

Independent parliamentary representative Ákos Hadházy publicly criticized Schadl for his conduct while under house arrest, particularly noting an appearance in a promotional video for an electric gate installation company.

The video unintentionally featured Schadl’s luxury villa as the workers were filmed performing repairs nearby.

Hadházy highlighted the contrast between Schadl's apparent wealth, evidenced by a notable watch on his wrist, and his legal troubles.
