Pilot Maneuvers Emergency Landing in Graz After Cabin Smoke Incident

An EasyJet flight from Budapest to Lyon made an unplanned landing in Austria after smoke was detected in the cabin.
An EasyJet aircraft was forced to execute an emergency landing at Graz Airport on Monday afternoon due to reports of smoke emanating from the cabin.

The flight had originated from Budapest and was en route to Lyon, France.

Upon detecting smoke in the cockpit, the pilot and crew opted for the nearest airport for a safe landing.

Emergency services, including multiple fire trucks and ambulances, were dispatched to the scene.

Fortunately, the landing was completed without incident, and all 143 passengers evacuated the aircraft safely.

Initial reports indicated no visible signs of injury among those on board.

Emergency services received notification shortly before 3 PM local time regarding the emergency landing at Graz-Thalerhof Airport.

The cause of the smoke is still under investigation.

In a separate incident in Budapest, a siren-emitting ambulance was temporarily halted due to a diplomatic convoy during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Hungary.

A video circulating online captured the moment an ambulance, which was responding to an emergency, was stopped at an intersection.

The incident occurred as multiple high-ranking foreign politicians attended the conference.

The video showed police motorcycles and a traffic officer stopping cross traffic to allow the convoy to pass.

When cross traffic was resumed approximately 25 seconds later, the first vehicle allowed through was the aforementioned ambulance.

The National Ambulance Service was contacted for clarification on why the emergency vehicle did not receive priority in this situation.

In their response, they cited regulations stipulating that vehicles with lights and sirens must also adhere to traffic management signals issued by police.

In a related situation, students became unwell due to excessive heat during a concert on Margaret Island held on National Unity Day.

Cultural Secretary HANKÓ BALÁZS delivered remarks at the event, which took place under a scorching sun from 11 AM. Reports indicated that various students experienced headaches and dizziness, with some unable to attend school the following day.

One student mentioned that out of 20 classmates present, five fell ill after the event.

Attempts were made to find shade, but event staff relocated them due to camera visibility concerns.

Organizers expressed regret over the incident but claimed that the children were not exposed to the sun for extended periods.

They noted that most children were in shaded areas and had informed the school in advance about the heat the previous week.

The Ministry of Culture and Innovation has not responded to inquiries related to these events.
