In a recent development, Norbert Élő's, of the Democratic Coalition (DK) in the mountainous region, announced their candidates for all individual electoral districts where the Two-Tailed Dog Party candidates are running.
Gergely Kovács, the mayoral candidate for the mountainous area, shared the information on his
Facebook page. The co-leader of the Two-Tailed Dog Party won the opposition primary in District XII in April, even outpacing Csaba Farkas supported by DK and Momentum, however, after only a few weeks, he was no longer the sole challenger against the Fidesz's Krisztina Fonti.
Norbert Élő, the district president of DK, who significantly lost to Zoltán Pokorni as the joint mayoral candidate of the parliamentary opposition parties in 2019, has announced his intention to run. According to the Two-Tailed Dog Party, DK has threatened the party that if they do not withdraw their candidates opposing DK's mayoral candidates in districts of Erzsébetváros, Újpest, and Óbuda, DK would launch campaigns in every mountainous district. According to Kovács's most recent post, they followed through on this, and as stated by the co-leader of the Dog Party, special attention was paid to make it clear that the action is directed against the team who won the primaries, as no candidates will be presented in the two districts won by Momentum.
Kovács reached an agreement with Momentum that if he won the primary, out of the 12 individual electoral districts, 8 could nominate candidates from the Two-Tailed Dog Party, leaving only 2 for both DK and Momentum. Consequently, they will not be able to form a compensatory list in District XII. Élő remarked that they were unaware of this agreement, even though the conditions were reported in the press before the primaries were held.
Despite this, Kovács hopes to overcome Zoltán Pokorni's team, despite opposition from DK.
DK claims that the Two-Tailed Dog Party endangers the chances of opposition mayors, already in position, for re-election in Districts I, III, and VII, thereby serving the interests of Fidesz.
