Gelencsér Ferenc accuses Szentkirályi Alexandra of public endangerment following a provocative social media post.
Gelencsér Ferenc, a member of the Hungarian opposition party Momentum, announced on
Facebook that he intends to file a complaint against Szentkirályi Alexandra, a Fidesz politician, for public endangerment.
In his post, Gelencsér referenced the relevant articles of the Hungarian Criminal Code, stating that those who present false facts capable of disturbing public peace may face criminal charges, carrying a penalty of up to three years in prison.
Gelencsér criticized Szentkirályi's political messaging, suggesting she has significantly lowered the standards of already distasteful political communication associated with the ruling party.
This statement follows Szentkirályi's recent release of a video on
Facebook depicting a bound man confined in the trunk of a car.
In the video, she expressed concerns that Ukraine's potential accession to the European Union could lead to an influx of organ traffickers, drug dealers, and human traffickers.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the man in the video is Szabó Botond Zsolt, an employee at the ministry headed by Gergely Rogán and a research assistant at the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC).
The Momentum politician condemned Szentkirályi's actions as both an act of public endangerment and a demonstration of irresponsible behavior, urging her to withdraw from public life.
Gelencsér noted that Szentkirályi's claims regarding Ukrainian organized crime resonate with recurring elements of Russian disinformation campaigns.
The situation has attracted significant attention in Hungary, where political tensions and accusations are commonplace, particularly related to issues involving Ukraine and European integration.
