Jonathan Majors has been sentenced to probation after being found guilty last December of assaulting his former girlfriend, British choreographer Grace Jabbari.
The American actor, who was immediately dropped by Marvel following his conviction, is now required to complete a 52-week domestic violence intervention program.
The actor could have faced up to a year in prison after being convicted of misdemeanor assault and second-degree harassment last year but managed to avoid jail time. In addition to the intervention program, Majors must also continue mental health therapy, as ordered by the judge.
Michael Gaffey, judge of the Supreme Court of Manhattan, decided to release Majors on conditional probation after determining that both parties agreed the charges did not warrant imprisonment. Instead, the judge ruled that Majors must undergo a "batterer's intervention program" in Los Angeles, where the actor resides, according to the BBC.
Majors played Kang the Conqueror, the main villain of the Multiverse Saga being built since 2021 and planned through 2027, in Marvel films. To date, viewers have encountered Kang's character only in the third _Ant-Man_ film and two seasons of the _Loki_ series, but he was slated to be the key figure in the 2026 _Avengers: The Kang Dynasty_ movie.
During the trial, Grace Jabbari testified that the escalating argument began in a car when she saw a text message on the man's phone screen reading, “Oh, how much I would like to kiss you now!” When she attempted to take the phone from Majors, he pried her fingers off the device, twisted her arm, and hit her head to regain possession of it. Majors pleaded not guilty to all charges, claiming through his defense that he was the actual victim, attacked by his jealous girlfriend, a claim prosecutors found unfounded.
